Frequently Asked Questions

  Q.   What age of kids do you transport?

     A.   3 - 17; though we can go slightly younger, and alittle older too.  We never mix the adult population with your kids.

  Q.   What qualifications do your drivers have?

     A.   At Child Safe Transportation we provide our driving team with continuing education and training on a monthly basis.  Our goal is to provide the safest transportation for your children going between homes.

  • All Drivers have current Red Cross first aid and CPR certifications
  • Drivers are certified and trained in car seat safety through Safe Kids Coalition
  • Child development traning is provided
  • Certifications in non-violent crisis intervention for children, with ongoing continuing education
  • All driver’s must have a clean motor vehicle record on file with us.
  • We have a training period for each driver during which the driver is shadowed by an experienced driver or one of the owners.  The new driver is scrutinized and evaluated before being provided with a route.
  • YES -- We are looking for a few good drivers for weekends, and some local routes in Boise and Twin Falls.  Please submit your resume to childsafetransportation@msn.com, or come into the Twin Falls office to fill out an application and schedule an interview.

  Q.   Are your drivers background checked?

     A.   Yes, all of our drivers must pass a criminal background check initiated by fingerprinting at the Twin Falls Sheriff’s Department and conducted in compliance with the requirements and guidelines of the Department of Health and Welfare.

  Q.  How do I get started?

     A.   All it takes to get started is a phone call to Child Safe .  We discuss your visitation needs and how we can provide a plan for your family -- then we send you a contract and get started transporting your precious cargo.

  Q.  What do you mean by a contract?

     A.   All of our services are provided on a contractual basis to reserve seating for your child(ren).  We offer three different options: School year contracts (Sept. thru May); Vacation contracts (June thru August); and single event/one-time contracts.  The single event/one-time contract is a great way to try out Child Safe for a weekend before you commit to a longer contract.  As set forth in our Contract, pre-payment is required in order to guarantee your child(ren) a reserved seat on our shuttle.  We would be happy to send you a contract in the mail for your review.  Review the contract and feel free to call us with questions.

  Q.   What else is covered in your contracts?

     A.   Our contract covers the statement of services to be performed, contracted amount and payment plan for services, our route depot centers, terms and conditions and policies and procedures under which we perform.  The scope of the terms of agreement by both parties are spelled out.

  Q.   Can my child eat or drink anything on the van?

     A.   No...our policy is no food or beverages are to be  eaten on the vans (sports water bottles are the exception).  However, the shuttle makes one 10-minute stop at the half way point and this is the ideal time for your child to eat a snack with the other kids at a table in the rest stop.  We encourage you to pack a snack for your child and a beverage.

  Q.   Can my children bring games, books, computers or anything else to occupy their time?

     A.   Yes...we encourage all kids to bring along an activity or two to keep themselves occupied.

  Q.   What does Child Safe provide for entertainment on the drive?

     A.   Child Safe has a selection of video games and DVD’s -- some of our drivers and/or attendants like to sing, too.

  Q.   What if my child needs to change to a different weekend?

     A.   If there is room on the shuttle for a different weekend, we are more that happy to change the weekend for you.  However, your contract will state which weekends during the month your child has reserved a seat on the shuttle.  We reserve these weekends so your child is quaranteed a seat on the shuttle -- according to your visitation and/or court-ordered parenting plan.  We will make every effort to accommodate your needs.

  Q.   What happens if my child doesn’t use the reserved seats for that month, will we get a refund?

     A.   No, since we reserve seats and have limited seating available, we operate on a use-it-or-lose-it policy.  This policy is in place to quarantee your child a seat on the shuttle every month.

  Q. What if I only want to use your shuttle service periodically, and I don’t want to sign up for a lengthy contract?

     A.  We offer a single/one-time contract for those who can’t or don’t want to commit to a longer contract.  However, there is a definite downside to using a single/one-time contract -- if there is a seat available for the weekend you want you’re in luck, -- if not, Child Safe will not be able to transport your child for that particular weekend.  It’s a gamble for you, but we are more that willing to offer a single/one-time contract for you everytime you need our service.  A single/one-time contract is a great way to initiate our service to see if it works for you and your child.   Single-event contract riders will pay $5.00 extra each way; however, first time riders may receive a promotional discount -- check the promotions page to see promotions in effect.
